Simple Large Scale 3D scanner

Abstract A new 3D measuring device for large dimensions is proposed. It is based on the combination of a simple system consisting of a smartphone that measures in stereo a near field with a robotic total station that tracks the position of the camera on a far field. The calibration method is described and the metrological properties obtained make it possible to measure objects of several tens or even hundreds of meters long with errors of the order of a millimeter. This makes it possible to consider the use of the system for many industrial applications
Comparison between topographic and photogrammetric techniques for deformation monitoring of the dome of the Massimo Theatre in Palermo

This paper shows the first results of a study aimed at monitoring the deformations of the dome of the Massimo Theatre in Palermo caused by thermal dilatations, with the use of topographic and photogrammetric integrated techniques. Particularly, two robotic total stations and high precision digital photogrammetric systems were employed. In order to correlate the displacements of the rollers on which the steel structure of the dome rest with the thermal gradients, different thermal images were acquired by a thermal imaging camera. L’articolo riporta i primi risultati di uno studio finalizzato al monitoraggio delle deformazioni della cupola del Teatro Massimo di Palermo provocate dalle dilatazioni termiche, con l’impiego di tecniche topografiche e fotogrammetriche integrate. In particolare, sono state utilizzate due stazioni totali robotizzate e sistemi di fotogrammetria digitale di elevata precisione. Per correlare gli spostamenti dei carrelli sui quali poggia la struttura in acciaio della cupola con i gradienti termici, sono state acquisite immagini termiche diversificate. [ES] El artículo se refiere al levantamiento topográfico y la reconstrucción en 3D de un puente-acueducto romano situado inmediatamente al sur de Hierápolis, en Frigia (suroeste de Turquía), a lo largo del antiguo camino dirigido a Colosas, en el interior de Anatolia. Actualmente sólo se conservan su pilar sur y escasos restos del pilar norte. Se encuentra en una situación muy difícil, en el interior de un valle estrecho y profundo, y nunca se ha estudiado antes.
